Ida (Emilia Meier) has to move. Away from her home, her school and above all: away from her friends. She has a hard time in her new class. One day, her class teacher Miss Cornfield (Nadja Uhl) announces that soon every child in the class will have a magical animal as a companion.
Of all people, the two outsiders Ida and Benni (Leonard Conrads) are the first to receive their new companions, who are to become friends for life. Ida is given the fox Rabbat (voiced by Frederick Lau) at her side, Benni the turtle Henrietta (voiced by Katharina Thalbach). Not only can the magical animals talk, they each have a character all their own. While Henrietta is a bit slow, but almost 200 years old and very wise, Rabbat is as smart as he is shrewd.
Through Rabbat, Ida suddenly becomes the star of the class and everyone wants to be friends with her. Benni remains an outsider. But at least he can skateboard with Henrietta and share his passion for pirates.
