In his new, highly anticipated feature film "Enfant Terrible", which was published in the MMC Studios and was filmed in Munich, is dedicated to Star director Oskar Roehler one of the great icons of German cinema in the second half of the 20th century, Rainer Werner Fassbinderand interprets the life and work of the film legend in an artistically innovative form.
When 22-year-old Rainer Werner Fassbinder stormed the stage of the Antiteater in Munich in 1967 and unceremoniously usurped the production, no one present suspected that this brash guy would one day become Germany's most important filmmaker.
The engaging and demanding man quickly gathered numerous actresses, self-promoters and lovers around him. He made one film after the next, which caused a sensation at the festivals in Berlin and Cannes.
The young director polarizes: professionally as well as privately. But the work mania, the physical self-exploitation of all involved and the unchecked drug consumption soon claim their first victims.
"Enfant Terrible" is director Oskar Roehler's ("Elementarteilchen," "The Untouchable") big bow to film icon Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
With an artful dramaturgy of color and light and extraordinary sets, Roehler approaches Fassbinder's universe and merges with it.
In episodic fashion, he recounts the artist's life, showing his entire range: from the brilliant director to the desperate seeker of love to the relentless harasser.
In doing so, he can fully rely on his charismatic leading man: Oliver Masucci not only plays the famous filmmaker, he becomes one with Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
Go to top-class ensemble of actors also include Hary Prinz, Katja Riemann, Jochen Schropp, Erdal Yildiz, Markus, Hering, Frida-Lovisa Hamann, Christian Berkel, Alexander Scheer, Eva Mattes, Désirée Nick and André Hennicke.
"Enfant Terrible" was produced by Bavaria Filmproduktion in co-production with X Filme Creative Pool, WDR, BR and ARTE.
The film was sponsored by Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, DFFF - Deutscher Filmförderfonds, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
"Enfant Terrible" was released in the summer of 2019 at the MMC Studio 30/31 and shot in Munich.
At this year's Cannes International Film Festival Enfant Terrible" was the only German entry for the "Official Selection" selected.
Weltkino Filmverleih is releasing the film nationwide today, October 1, 2020.
